Welcome to the Theoretical Computer Science group at the University of Chicago.

The Theory group sprung up almost immediately after the founding of the Department in 1983 and has thrived ever since; it was the first group within the Department to put Chicago on the map in the Computer Science community at large. In the intellectual environment of the University of Chicago, a university dedicated to fundamental research in all areas, our Theory group graduated a number of outstanding doctoral students. Our faculty and graduate students have produced widely cited results and won major awards in Theory.

Recently, our group has been further enhanced by our close collaboration with TTI-C, a new institution on the University of Chicago campus with several faculty members and postdocs in Theory.

Both the Department and TTI-C continue to hire in a variety of areas, including Theory, so we expect our group to further expand in the next several years.
